Troubleshooting Pneumatic Conveying Systems

1. Blower Package:

  • Blowers provide the necessary volume of air and pressure for the system.

  • Check for consistent blower speed and pressure relief valve behavior.

  • Gauge fluctuations may indicate rotary valve wear or low velocity.

2. Convey Line:

  • Elbows are wear points and can impact system performance.

  • Avoid excessive bends and monitor line pressure.

  • Feel the line to assess material flow.

3. Rotary Valves / Airlocks:

  • These act as the “revolving door” of the system.

  • Inspect for proper pressure separation and functionality.

4. Filter Receivers / Bin Vents:

  • Not dust collectors; they separate air and material.

  • Monitor filter differential pressure.

  • Ensure efficient bag cleaning cycles.
